Sugar is naturally occurring in milk (lactose) and malt extract (maltose) which are both ingredients of Ovaltine. There is a small amount of sugar provided by the maltodextrin. Lasting Energy and Light Break each contain added sugar from cane sugar.

Ovaltine Lasting Energy package design has been updated, but the recipe is unchanged. Ovaltine Lasting Energy is still the same choc malt drink you know and love, specially formulated with 8 vitamins & minerals and is low GI for lasting energy.

Malt is make by soaking barley seeds until they begin to germinate, and then drying to create the malt powder. This process is called "malting" and it gives us the sweet, caramel flavour we know and love in malted milk.
